Long as we're talking baseball....
OK, all they have talked about baseball wise this offseason. Barry Bonds, Jason Giambi, on and on. Congress had players and Comissioner Selig come to Capitol Hill to talk about the problem. Leave aside the fact that the whole congressional hearing thing was grandstanding, baseball STILL dropped the opportunity to make themselves look like they were taking action.
So how freaking stupid do you have to be to STILL GET CAUGHT?!?!
Tampa Bay Devil Rays outfielder Alex Sanchez was suspended 10 days for violating baseball's new drug policy, the first player publicly identified under the major leagues' tougher rules.Uh huh, and Barry just thought he was using flaxseed oil. Give me a frigging break.
[snip]
Sanchez said he was surprised by the suspension, adding that he uses milkshakes and multivitamins to build his energy -- and blaming the positive test on something he bought over the counter.
And yet when baseball would like to think that this makes them look like they're taking action, all it does is make them look like they don't really care, as the first offense gets little more than a slap on the wrist. 10 days is less than some players get for fighting in a game. And this is supposed to be tough action?
If I didn't love the game itself so much, I'm pretty sure I'd have given up on these jackasses ages ago. Talk about an abusive relationship...they keep beating on me and abusing me and I come back for more. I am baseball's bitch.
Oh well....play ball ;-).
